The Breasts - and What Every Woman Should Know
According to the NHS, there are many reasons why women can experience breast pain; with periods being the most likely cause. It also occurs as a result of pregnancy, menopause or an injury. Symptoms of breast pain are the breasts feeling tender, sore and heavy. Fortunately, usually, breast pain is nothing to worry about, however, for some it is. Approximately one in every eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. In fact, all women are advised to start checking their breasts for any lumps and unfamiliar bumps from an early age. Breast cancer is a very real worry, especially for those over the age of 50. This fear is exacerbated because most of the time, we do not know exactly why cancer develops in one person and not another. We only know that there are certain risk factors that may make cancer more likely to develop. In this article, I am going to look at the powerful work of Brian H. Butler and his book ‘YOUR BREASTS - What Every Woman Needs to Know - NOW!’ In this interesting document, he explains how natural methods and Kinesiological techniques can be used to proactively relieve breast lumps and congestion. Thus, leading to stronger breast health.
Who is Brian H. Butler?
Brian H. Butler was the first to pioneer the practice of Systematic Kinesiology in Britain and Europe. You can read more about what Systematic Kinesiology is and how it began in my article here. Thanks to Brian, The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology (T.A.S.K) was founded over 40 years ago, and I am lucky enough to be undergoing my Systematic Kinesiology practitioner qualification with them in London. I was first handed his book on relieving breast lumps and congestion a year ago, in my beginning months of practising Systematic Kinesiology. Whilst it is easy to be sceptical of the method put forward in the book because it is simple, natural and far removed from Western medicine; I was and continue to be completely inspired and in awe of how powerful and healing Systematic Kinesiological techniques can be. There is no doubt in my mind that Kinesiological techniques work. If you have not already read his pamphlet, I could not recommend it more. There is a link to it here. This article will summarise the key points of the book. It is important to state that the techniques suggested in Butler’s work are by no means suggested as an alternative method to medical attention. If you are concerned about anything to do with your breasts, it is important to seek medical advice from a professional.
Why is Butler’s work so important?
I think the best way to sum up Brian Butler’s methods (and in fact Systematic Kinesiology as a practice) is ‘prevention is better than cure’. Using the natural, kinesiological methods set forth by Butler will inevitably result in good breast health, thus reducing the likelihood of breast lumps or breast pain. Similarly, Systematic Kinesiology finds the imbalances in the body and fixes them, restoring the body to homeostasis. Seeing a Kinesiologist regularly would proactively keep the individual in good health, helping to avoid the onset of potential injuries or sickness.
The importance of lymphatic massage
I have covered in a previous article the importance of lymphatic rubbing (a large component of Kinesiology) but here it is again for ease. The lymphatic system is the body's sewerage system. It is responsible for clearing out all of the body's waste and toxins that the blood is unable to filter. However, unlike blood, which is pumped around the body by the heart, the lymphatic system relies on bodily movement to flow. Lymphatic massage enables the release of all of the stagnant, built-up lymphatic fluid in the body, draining away any excess toxins.
Butler’s natural method for good breast health is based on lymphatic rubbing. He states ‘lumps are an accumulation of waste materials that have not been carried away by the lymphatic system, causing congestion’. I have also previously touched on how the body works in circuits, so feeling pain in one area could actually be the result of weakness in another area. Similarly, the area which enables lymphatic drainage of the breasts is actually found on the outside of the leg (from the knee to the hip).
So, how does one use lymphatic massage to relieve breast congestion?
Firstly, it is important to examine with your fingers the areas of the breast that feel tender, sore or bumpy. If/when you find an area that feels tender, maintain contact with it using a light touch. Then with the other hand, using 3 fingers, gently massage the outside of the leg (by rubbing in a rotating manner round and around) starting below the knee and moving upwards until you reach the hip bone. You will undoubtedly find areas of the leg which are more tender than others whilst doing this. In that case, just spend a bit more time massaging the tender area. You will find that as time passes, the amount of discomfort will decrease slowly. This is a sign that the lymphatic drainage is working. When you have finished massaging the leg, check to see if the tenderness in the breast has reduced. If it has not, repeat the process until it does. If you actually have a breast lump you may want to try this process a few days in a row.
Of course, you can do this process yourself. But it is even more powerful if you have someone else do it for you. A qualified Systematic Kinesiologist would be able to help, or even a close friend that you trust. Please ensure that if you have found a breast lump, this should not be practised in replace of consulting a medical professional. Ensure to try the method but also contact your doctor.
There you have it - a simple, natural method for relieving breast congestion. Even if you are sceptical, why not give it a go? It will only take 10 minutes and the proof will be in the pudding. It may just work. In Butler’s book, you can read some of the amazing success stories of women who have used the technique and seen amazing results.
Please purchase the book. This blog post has only covered a tiny part of the insightful topics discussed in it.
To sum up, this is one of the endless reasons why Systematic Kinesiology is so powerful and why I decided to become a practitioner. Our bodies want to be healthy, and symptoms (such as breast congestion) are a sign that there is something imbalanced and in need of attention. Systematic Kinesiology can help restore the body to balance, relieve symptoms and ultimately enable individuals to lead healthy, happy lives.
