Systematic Kinesiology and Tapping
EFT ‘Emotional Freedom Technique’ is an alternative and holistic approach to healthcare, helping with mental and physical pain. MTT ‘Meridian Therapy Tapping’, is a similar technique to EFT, working with meridians and energy through ‘tapping’. Systematic Kinesiologists will use MTT in their sessions to help restore the body back to balance by replacing negative thoughts and beliefs. This article is going to explore what tapping is, how it works, and how it can help with mental and physical well being.
What are Meridians?
In order to understand what tapping is and how it works, it is important to first understand ‘meridians’ and ‘energy’. ‘Meridians’ are a set of pathways in the body along which vital energy is said to flow through. Our energy flow affects how we feel, how we think, and the overall condition of our health situation. Energy blockages can lead to a lack or surplus of energy in the body, manifesting into physical symptoms. Kinesiologists work with the whole body via MCPE (Mental, Chemical, Physical and Energetical); the ‘E’ focuses on running meridian points to ensure that energy is flowing through the body seamlessly.
Each side of the body is traversed by six meridians; three yin and three yang and every meridian corresponds with a particular organ. The 12 major meridians of the body are:
Lung
Large intestine
Stomach
Spleen
Heart
Small intestine
Bladder
Kidney
Pericardium
Triple Warmer
Gallbladder
Liver
Systematic Kinesiologists believe that tapping restores the body’s energy balance, enabling negative emotions to be conquered.
How does tapping work?
Tapping can be practiced from the comfort of your own home, by following simple instructions. There are a number of thorough articles and detailed YouTube videos online explaining how to do it. However, here are the steps that a Systematic Kinesiologist will follow during a session:
They will start by asking you to think of any negative emotion or thought that is bothering you.
They will work with you to find the correct statement for the emotion or physical symptom you want to change.
They will tap all of your meridian points whilst asking you to repeat the statement.
Dr. Dawson Church, a pioneer in tapping research, has said “Acupoint tapping sends signals directly to the stress centers of the midbrain, not mediated by the frontal lobes (the thinking part, active in talk therapy).” This is why it is so powerful.
Tapping can help with anxiety, depression, overwhelming and intrusive thoughts and painful memories.
